Fighting against the name of God

Nations and individual spirituality is at downward trend. In the USA, the Ten Commandment has been removed from schools and public places. As if that is not enough; recently, some atheist still went ahead to file a suit in the Supreme Court; pushing to declare the reciting of national pledge in schools and public meetings as unconstitutional: Just because the name “God” is in it. Good anyway, the request was denied.

The effect of the removal of these landmarks may not be felt immediately, but if allowed, destructive landmarks are being laid which will affect the future generation of any nation, church or individual negatively.

Let me make this clear, the day that United States of America removes “In God we trust” from their currency, that day the economy of America will start to crumble; that day it will seize to be the most powerful nation; and that day the empire will fall.

Removal of total dependence on God

The scripture states

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, (Is. 1:18a)

There is the need for Christians, especially, the ministers of the word, for a rethinking on how to restore these landmarks that have been removed or in the process of being removed. The downward trend of peace all over the world is partly the fault of Christians who are unable to stand their ground to lead the world in the way of the Lord.

Most of our recent past spiritual leaders have handed nothing much of spiritual inheritance to the coming generation. Technology has taking away our spiritual inheritance. God is the sole custodian of spiritual guide line that enhances development in humanity; he has given us this to benefit us; but is quickly forgotten that it is the doing of the Lord. Hence, new generation are forgetting the goodness and power of God as being responsible for where the world is today. There is the need to go back to the ancient landmarks of total dependence on God.

Lost of identity

Denominational issue is one of the problems facing Christianity today. Denominational doctrines have replaced the truth of the word of God; thus, truth has been compromised with error (Jude 3). Modern day prosperity preachers (Mammon preachers – Matt. 6:24) have obscured the ancient landmarks of Holiness. Thus believers have been robbed off of their vast spiritual inheritance and the enjoyment that is in it.

Our general identity as Christians has been replaced by denomination. To many Christians, to say “I’m a Christian” is not satisfactory answer to the question “are you a Christian?” however, they want you to mention which denomination you belong. The issue of denomination has reduced the oneness and unity expected among Christians today. Every denomination has its own doctrine fashioned to suites the belief of their founder; thus dividing Jesus Christ among themselves.

Every denomination and church doctrine and individual Christian life must be in line with these landmarks of apostolic doctrine:

  1. “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Eph. 4:4-6)
  2. The Bible is one, from Genesis to Revelation; any condemnation of any part will render the whole word of God untrue. It is better and even necessary to use unadulterated  original translated Bible that are not biased in their commentary or those whose original meaning of the words has been changed or distorted (e.g. marriage order).
  3. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The preeminence of Jesus Christ as Lord over the church is Paramount to our faith and church; not the crown or title. Crown or title does not make any human being be the head of the church. If this should happen, it then becomes idolatry. But the scripture states, But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (Jn. 423-24)
  4. The Lord Jehovah is the only true God. Right from creation, He has never change; His word has never change; and Jesus’ gospel is never in opposition to the law and the prophets. As God had delivered to Moses, He delivered to the prophets and He sent His Son to confirm the formers; and the Son empowers us with the Holy Spirit.
  5. Believe in the power of the Holy Spirit as the guiding light in any church or individual life.
  6. Baptism should be by immersion for those who profess faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Jesus Christ instituted baptism primarily for public profession of faith, and that such a profession is part of the definition of baptism. Under new covenant, the requirement of personal faith before baptism is absolute.
