The world is full of men that resemble the High priests, the Pharisees, the scribes and the Sadducees of Jesus’ days, who like preeminence in the house of God. They would not perform and would not allow others to perform. In the same vein, we have many leaders who sit in the seat of Pontius Pilate, to pervert truth and justice because of the fear of losing their political position.

The High priest and his cohorts envied Jesus Christ because of His works of miracle; they were trapped by the fear of losing their followers. Were the High priest and his cronies ignorant of the person of Jesus Christ? No, but because of their belly, position and fame, they lied against the anointed of God.

Pontius Pilate heard of what Jesus did, he found no cause for Jesus to be crucified, “For he knew that for envy they (High priest and his cronies) had delivered him (Jesus)” (Matt. 27:18). He feared the people and the Roman Emperor probably it would cost him his position as the proconsul of that region if he freed Jesus. He was trapped by his own fear and delivered the Prince of peace to be crucified in place of a criminal.

There are many people in the world today, who would pervert the truth in order to cover an evil plot that they may satisfy their selfish desires. Many ministers are afraid to build on the word and teaching of our Lord Jesus: however, they preferred to incline to the way of the world.

What is church and what is wrong with the church?

The church of the living God is the pillar and ground of the truth (1Tim. 3:15). However, the church has been sold out and truth has become a scarce commodity among Christians. The church has been betrayed by today’s high priest and his cohorts, namely

· The Pope

· The Archbishops

· The Bishops

· Church Overseers of diverse denominations

· All Christians who cannot defend what they profess

They have all embraced lies, immoralities, unrighteousness; sins under the pretence of being a church. They are afraid to point to the wrongs and ills of the society. Many of this minister and their churches are example of the church in Sardis – A dead church (Rev. 3:1-5).

The Leaders in our community have perverted justice because of their belly, position and power. The Pontius Pilates in our societies today are leaders in our communities.

In year 2009, the mayor of East Orange County in New Jersey USA, unreasonably, ejected our church from a building, that the Muslim community did not want our church in that area. This is an example of a Pontius Pilate of our time.

Pontius Pilate, who would not free Jesus Christ because of power, position and the fear of the Emperor, eventually died for his role in the crucifixion of Jesus. Emperor Tiberius of Roman condemned him to death; however, he committed suicide before the day of his execution.

A child of God who fails to tell the truth in order not to lose anything will eventually lose it the day his/her hypocrisy is discovered. Should the fear of anything put you in bondage of sin? Should the fear of what to eat, drink, wear, position or fame enslave you to deny the truth?

The Bible says that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free (Jn. 8:31). The moment you fail to tell the truth, that same moment, you become a prisoner of your own fear. You will suffer a greater consequence than that of Pontius Pilate.
