The Word as written in the Bible contains

  1. Books of the law
  2. Books of the prophets
  3. The gospels (truth) – teaching of our Lord Jesus
  4. Impartation of the Holy Spirit (Epistles)

All four works together to achieve the same goal: They are intended to impart the thinking, habit, speech, characteristics and behavior of a born again Christian; or a morally justified person. A major problem with believers is that, they failed to apply biblical truth to their lives. Always inclining to hear, sometimes reading the Bible like literature book; however, they failed to be the doer of the word.

The scripture states,

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does” (Jas. 1:21-25).

To have a full understanding of the Bible, do not read, believe or obey only one part without the others; no one part can stand by itself; they are intertwined to make the word of God. Because of lack of knowledge and understanding due to false doctrine; believers have been brainwashed by false ministers to adhere partially to the word of God.

The law is the same thing as light (Jesus Christ), which illuminates the path that leads believers, to everlasting life (Ps. 119:105). How? The law tutors us to Christ (Gal. 3:23-25). Jesus said that He has not come to destroy the law, but to establish it.

Jesus’ response to all the three temptations was to quote the word of God in the Old Testament to win the evil one. This demonstration is to show Jesus’ followers of which you are one, the power of the whole scripture. Read the whole Bible without leaving any part out; the Bible is a whole, not pieces.

The blessing that was promised the believers comes when you observe to do according to the commandments of God (Jos. 1:7-8). True success in life cannot occur apart from knowing and doing the will of God. Success or victory depends more on spiritual state and the degree of obedience to God’s word than man’s wisdom. Keeping the word of God is treasure, but not keeping the word is treacherous.
